Description:
A pre-15th-century BC ceramic sculpture from the Arawak Taino culture of Colombia and the Caribbean. This ovo-shaped artifact depicts a stylized crouching figure, characterized by slender limbs with hands and feet joined together. The figure's facial features are distinct, including coffee-bean-shaped eyes, a rectangular nose, pursed lips, and a pointed chin, all framed by a turban-like headpiece. Sunken cheeks exhibit scratched detailing, enhancing its expressive quality.
This sculpture, with its minimalist yet evocative form, highlights the artistic conventions and cultural symbolism of the Taino people. The plexiglass stand used for photography is not included.
