Boris Zhutovsky, born in 1932 in Moscow, is a prominent Russian painter and book illustrator known for his contributions to modern art and his involvement in the artistic movements of the Soviet era. He studied at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute, where he was influenced by his professors, including A. Goncharov and I. Chekmazov, a student of Wassily Kandinsky. After completing his studies, Zhutovsky worked in various publishing houses as a book illustrator and designer, while also continuing to develop his own painting style. His early career was marked by a significant incident in 1962, when he had a personal confrontation with Nikita Khrushchev, leading to his prohibition from participating in exhibitions within the USSR. Despite this setback, Zhutovsky's work gained international recognition, with exhibitions in numerous countries, including Finland, Canada, Italy, Poland, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, France, and the United States. Throughout his career, Zhutovsky has been awarded multiple accolades, including the prestigious Diploma IBA-82 in Leipzig and several international medals for his work.
