Description:
An unusual document signed by Edward, Prince of Wales ("Edward P."), later Edward VIII, issued by the Grand Lodge of Freemasonry, Surrey. As Grand Master, he appoints Brother George Evitz as Assistant Director of Ceremonies. The document is signed in dark pen ink at the foot, next to a red round blind embossed paper seal. Dated 24 October 1934, this is a significant piece of Masonic and royal history, reflecting Edward's role in the fraternity before his brief reign as King of the United Kingdom and subsequent abdication.
