Pierre R. Renoir was born in 1958 in the Principality of Monaco and displayed a remarkable talent for the arts from a very young age. He was encouraged and mentored by Henri Baviere, an engraver from St. Paul de Vence and a member of the Renoir family. Renoir excelled in the technique of drypoint engraving, a method dating back to the fifteenth century.

In 1978, the Renoir family emigrated to Canada, where Pierre Renoir held his first exhibition of drypoint engravings in Edmonton, Alberta. The exhibition was met with success, leading to further exhibitions in Canada and the United States. Pierre Renoir's work is not only a testament to his own artistic journey but also pays tribute to his great-grandfather, the renowned French impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir, whose influence is evident in his art.

After residing in North America for nine years, Pierre Renoir returned to France briefly before settling in the Monterey Bay area of California, where he continues to dedicate himself to the art of engraving.
