Pierre Roland Renoir, 'Juene fille'
'Jeune fille,' a captivating artwork by Pierre Roland Renoir, presents a portrait of a young girl. The composition predominantly employs a monochromatic blue palette, with varying shades of blue used for her hair, garments, and background. This deliberate choice of limited colors creates a captivating visual tension and effectively guides the viewer's focus towards the girl's face, which stands out due to the warm-cold contrast.
While the chromatic range is minimal, the artwork compensates with a remarkable complexity of texture and the skillful rendering of volumes and shapes. The young girl in the portrait leans her head against her hand, and her gaze appears directed beyond the frame, evoking an eager and dreamy stance.

About the artist:
Pierre R. Renoir was born in 1958 in the Principality of Monaco and displayed a remarkable talent for the arts from a very young age. He was encouraged and mentored by Henri Baviere, an engraver from St. Paul de Vence and a member of the Renoir family. Renoir excelled in the technique of drypoint engraving, a method dating back to the fifteenth century.
In 1978, the Renoir family emigrated to Canada, where Pierre Renoir held his first exhibition of drypoint engravings in Edmonton, Alberta. The exhibition was met with success, leading to further exhibitions in Canada and the United States. Pierre Renoir's work is not only a testament to his own artistic journey but also pays tribute to his great-grandfather, the renowned French impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir, whose influence is evident in his art.
After residing in North America for nine years, Pierre Renoir returned to France briefly before settling in the Monterey Bay area of California, where he continues to dedicate himself to the art of engraving. Exploring his extensive body of work can provide a deeper understanding of his artistic evolution and the impact of his great-grandfather's legacy on his own artistic development.
