Abraham Shemi-Shoham is an Israeli artist born in 1935. He is known for his paintings, sculptures, and installations, which are characterized by their bright colors and geometric shapes. Shemi-Shoham studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, where he later taught as a professor.
Shemi-Shoham's works often reflect his interest in the landscapes and culture of Israel. He is particularly known for his depictions of the Mediterranean Sea, the Negev Desert, and the Galilee region. His work also reflects his engagement with Jewish and biblical themes, as well as his interest in the kibbutz movement and its values of communal living and working the land.
Shemi-Shoham's works have been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout Israel and around the world, including the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, and the Jewish Museum in New York. He has been awarded numerous honors for his contributions to Israeli art, including the Israel Prize in 2008.
