Albert Pinot ( Saint-Gilles (Brussels), 1875 – Ixelles (Brussels), 1962) was a Belgian post-impressionist painter, watercolorist and draftsman.
Biographical Information
He was born of a French father and a Brussels mother. In the period 1890-1899 he was a student of the neo-classicist Joseph Stallaert at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels . He often stayed in Ostend and also painted along the Seine and the Oise. He had a studio in Paris from 1919 , but settled permanently in Brussels in 1934. He made numerous trips through Europe (Denmark, Norway, France) and also to Turkey.
He became a founding member of the art association Le Sillon in 1893 . From 1944 he became president of the Brussels art circle Société Royale Belge des Aquarellistes .
He painted portraits, interiors, marines and still lifes in a post-impressionist style in a virtuoso manner. His touch became lighter, more luministic. This brought his work even close to the debut works of the future Brabant fauvists.
He was friends with many artists including Anna Boch , Alfred Bastien , Frans Smeers and Maurice Wagemans .
