Anton Denzel
After attending school in Ehingen and Ulm, Denzel enrolled at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Stuttgart from 1907 to 1916, and then at the art academies in Stuttgart and Munich. In 1912 he passed the drawing teacher exam and did military service from 1916 to 1918. His work as a war correspondent on the western front is significant. He then lived in Riedlingen as a teacher and headmaster at the commercial trade school until he retired in 1948.
Denzel's pictures adorned many living rooms in Riedling. Animal motifs were just as popular as the excellent landscapes from the Danube bus area. In many animal depictions he leans heavily on his teacher in Munich, Heinrich v. reins, on. Denzel was also good with an etching needle. He created a number of remarkable animal series in small format, as well as drawing anatomically perfect horses at work. Anton Denzel would certainly be pleased that his pictures would be exhibited in the building where the vocational school used to be and where he taught almost all his life.
