Description:
A striking bronze lamp from the 19th century AD or earlier, intricately crafted in the round. The lamp depicts a bird with outstretched wings, standing atop a mythical creature with a serpent’s body and a dragon’s head. The bird holds a shallow dish in its sharp beak, with seven columns of script engraved on the internal base of the bowl. The bird’s detailed plumage and the serpent’s scales are masterfully rendered in relief and engraved lines, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship.

Previously owned by a London doctor, inherited from her husband, who acquired it during travels in the Far East in the 1920s.
