Description:
A surreal square composition by Li Xiaoqi, depicting a room imbued with cryptic and symbolic elements. Central to the scene are a chair, a horse, and a black floor resembling a mass of thick liquid, rendered with free and loose brushstrokes. This spontaneous approach creates a dynamic balance, infusing energy into an otherwise static scene without descending into chaos. Li's nuanced use of muted tones enhances the mysterious, almost dreamlike quality of the work.

About the Artist:
Li Xiaoqi, born in Shandong in June 1983, is a graduate of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts (2005) and currently resides in Chongqing. His work often blurs the boundaries of form, featuring indistinct figures and minimalist palettes dominated by black, gray-brown, and rare accents of red. Through deliberate dismemberment, distortion, and tension, his pieces evoke themes of loneliness, death, and spiritual transcendence. Known for his rhythmic compositions, Li shapes his art through exploration, striving to convey an emotional and experiential depth that transcends mere representation.
