A collection of five early 19th-century caricatures of Napoleon Bonaparte, consisting of contemporary or near-contemporary etchings and engravings, three of which are hand-colored. The prints depict satirical and exaggerated representations of Napoleon, including:
- Napoleon with a Beak Nose (attributed to Pierre Marie Basson Pierre Gaston)
- Das ist mein lieber Sohn... (Napoleon as a baby held by the devil)
- Saute pour le Roy (Napoleon’s bust held up by a Republican figure)
- Napoleon and Fate (Napoleon gambling with miniature soldiers and Death)
- Serrement de Nez (After Pierre Lacroix, depicting Marshal Ney kneeling on Napoleon’s nose)
Additionally, the lot includes Spooner's Protean View No. 10: Napoleon Mighty and Napoleon Impotent, a transformation print by William Spooner, which changes its image when illuminated.
