Description:
A striking abstract composition executed in a high impasto technique, Jumelles (Twins) captivates with its rich texture and bold interplay of color. The composition is structured around two complementary color pairs—blue and orange, yellow and purple—creating a dynamic visual dialogue. Small accents of white and black and line work introduce further complexity, enriching the layered surface. The background, rendered in soft warm hues, provides a subtle yet luminous contrast, allowing the primary elements to emerge with vibrancy and depth.
About the Artist:
Robinson Murray was born in Quincy, Massachusetts, and earned a B.A. in art from Harvard University before continuing his studies at the esteemed Vesper George School of Art in Boston. He built a career as an art director at McCann Erickson Advertising but later dedicated himself to painting following his retirement in the 1960s. His abstract works, distinguished by their expressive use of texture and color, were widely exhibited in juried art shows across Massachusetts and New York, including the John F. Kennedy Building and the Copley Society in Boston. His legacy continues posthumously, with exhibitions at institutions such as the Vero Beach Museum of Art and the Worcester Center for Crafts.
