About the Artist:
Li Rongzhou (b. 1940, Feng County, Jiangsu Province) is a distinguished Chinese painter and professor at Nanjing University of the Arts. A graduate of the university’s Fine Arts Department in 1963, he has played a significant role in shaping contemporary Chinese oil painting, serving as the longtime director of the university’s Oil Painting Department. A member of the China Artists Association, Li’s works have been exhibited nationally and internationally, garnering numerous accolades. His notable paintings, including Snow, Field Path, Spring Return, and Daughter from Afar, have been widely celebrated, with several earning awards in prestigious exhibitions. In 1996, he presented a major solo exhibition featuring 180 oil sketches, receiving widespread recognition. Through his lifelong dedication as both an artist and educator, Li continues to leave a lasting impact on the world of Chinese oil painting.
