A rare and well-preserved rectangular ceramic tablet featuring cuneiform inscriptions on both faces. This artifact originates from Western Asia and represents a significant piece of early written history. Cuneiform, one of the earliest writing systems, was used for administrative, legal, and literary purposes across Mesopotamian civilizations.
This particular tablet was part of a specialized collection of cuneiform texts, previously owned by a London gentleman and housed in London before 1992. It was subsequently inherited by family members. The collection was examined in the late 1980s and early 1990s by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert FBA (1926–2011), a renowned historian, archaeologist, and expert in Assyriology and Near Eastern archaeology.
