Description:
A hauntingly introspective composition, Live Alone presents a solitary figure seated in an austere interior. The room is stark, its emptiness accentuated by muted tones and a restricted palette. The darkest area is the floor, while the walls dissolve into light washes, reinforcing the sense of isolation. A single hanging lightbulb casts a subdued glow, mirrored by another on the floor. Nearby, an abstract volume sits alongside an open book, its pages marked by a single striking red stain—the only vivid color in the composition. The indistinct nature of the setting, coupled with the loose, expressive brushwork, lends the work an enigmatic and almost surreal quality, evoking a quiet tension between presence and absence.

About the Artist:
Li Xiaoqi is a contemporary Chinese artist recognized for his evocative, introspective works that balance abstraction with narrative depth. A graduate of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 2005, Li has participated in numerous exhibitions, including Traces: Idealistic Narrative Contemporary Art Exhibition and his solo show Imaginary World at Zhancan Art Center. Based in Huangjueping, Chongqing, he continues to explore themes of solitude, identity, and psychological space through his unique visual language.
