John Ian St John (7 June 1938 – 1 March 2021) was a Scottish professional footballer, coach, and broadcaster. As a forward for Liverpool FC throughout most of the 1960s, he was signed by manager Bill Shankly in 1961 and played a pivotal role in the club's rise from the Second Division to becoming one of England's top teams. St John helped Liverpool secure two league titles and famously scored the winning goal in the 1965 FA Cup Final—Liverpool’s first in its history. He earned 21 caps for Scotland, scoring nine international goals. Roger Hunt, a fellow Liverpool icon and key member of the 1966 World Cup-winning England squad, also made a profound impact on the club's legacy.
