Description:
A royal warrant signed by George IV, King of England ("George R"), dated 25 March 1824. The document appoints John Austin as a Major in the 97th Infantry Regiment under the command of Major-General Sir James Lyon. The warrant is countersigned at the foot by Robert Peel, who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (1834-35, 1841-46) and as Home Secretary (1828-30). Features a blind embossed paper seal. The document shows a vertical fold mark and minor mounting residue on the reverse. Issued at Carlton Court.
