George D. Widener (June 16, 1861 – April 15, 1912) was a prominent American businessman who tragically perished in the Titanic disaster. He was traveling with his wife and son; after the ship struck an iceberg, he secured a place for his wife and her maid on a lifeboat. They were later rescued by the RMS Carpathia, but Widener and his son did not survive.
A rare piece of financial and maritime history.
