Description:
A finely crafted, large Egyptian shabti from the New Kingdom, featuring a tripartite wig and a hooked false beard. The figure carries a seed bag over the left shoulder and holds a nekhakha flail and short-handled heka crook in its crossed hands. The back pillar extends down to a rectangular base, and the lower body is adorned with nine bands of hieroglyphic inscriptions from Chapter 6 of the Book of the Dead. These inscriptions would have served as a magical text ensuring the shabti performed labor on behalf of the deceased in the afterlife.
