Born in Shanghai in 1947, Shen Guangyao embarked on his artistic journey after graduating from Shanghai Datong Middle School in 1964. He further honed his craft by studying art modeling at Shanghai Light Industry School and oil painting at Nanjing Academy of Art, where he earned his degree in 1976. Since then, he has been an integral part of the Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum.

Throughout his career, Shen Guangyao has achieved numerous milestones and accolades. In 1984, his artworks were showcased at the prestigious New Artist Exhibition held at the China Art Museum in Beijing.
