About the artist - Nicholas Krushenick:
Nicholas Krushenick, born in the Bronx, New York, in 1929, was a prominent figure in the art world. He began his artistic journey by studying painting at the Art Students League of New York and the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts. Krushenick's career took a unique turn when he, along with his brother John, operated the renowned Brata Gallery in Manhattan's East Village from 1957 to 1962. The gallery featured works by leading artists of the era, showcasing Krushenick's commitment to promoting the art community.
In the early 1960s, Krushenick developed his distinctive "pop abstract" style. His paintings featured loose geometries and web-like forms that playfully caricatured Abstract Expressionist elements. His use of high-keyed colors, formal precision, and graphic intensity set him apart from his contemporaries. This innovative approach to art ensured that Krushenick's work remained fresh and relevant even decades later.
Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Krushenick held solo exhibitions at prestigious galleries worldwide and participated in influential museum exhibitions. His work can be found in the collections of over sixty major museums, highlighting his enduring impact on the art world.
Nicholas Krushenick's art continues to be celebrated and represented exclusively by Garth Greenan Gallery in New York.
