In this composition, the female figure takes center stage, occupying the majority of the space. The artist has chosen soft pastel hues to render the figure, imbuing her with a sense of delicacy and subtlety. The model, with her blonde hair, appears ethereal and graceful, capturing the viewer's attention.

About the artist:
Félix Labisse (March 9, 1905 – January 27, 1982) was a prominent French Surrealist painter, illustrator, and designer. His artistic journey led him to divide his time between Paris and the Belgian coast from 1927. During his time in Ostend, he had the opportunity to meet the influential artist James Ensor, whose work had a lasting impact on Labisse's own artistic style.
Labisse's paintings often feature fantastical and hybrid creatures, and his oeuvre frequently explores themes of sensuality and eroticism. In 1960, he introduced a series of paintings featuring blue women, including the notable "Bain Turquoise."
His contributions to the world of art extended beyond painting, as he also delved into theater design. Félix Labisse's artistic legacy is celebrated for its unique and imaginative approach to Surrealism. His work continues to be appreciated by art enthusiasts and collectors worldwide, and he was elected to the prestigious Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1966. Labisse's impact on the art world is commemorated by retrospectives and exhibitions of his work, such as the one held at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam in 1973. His passing in 1982 marked the end of a significant chapter in the Surrealist movement.
