Harry Buyck was a Belgian artist born in Antwerp in 1928 and passed away in Merksem in 2017. He was primarily a painter and draftsman. While largely self-taught, he did attend lessons at the Academy in Ghent under W. Sybrands. His inspiration often came from observing people, capturing them in various settings such as at home, on the beach, or in cafes. He also delved into painting landscapes, beach scenes, nudes, and mother-and-child compositions, all executed in an expressionist style.

Critics have noted that Harry Buyck's works focus on capturing the atmosphere of his subjects, often steering away from traditional themes.
