About the artist
Lothar Quinte was a prominent figure in the German avant-garde movement. From 1946 to 1951, he studied at the private art academy Bernsteinschule, where he trained under Hans Ludwig Pfeiffer and HAP Grieshaber. In 1957, he became a member of the Deutsche Künstlerbund, marking his growing influence in the contemporary art scene.
Renowned for his work in glass painting, Quinte created numerous stained-glass windows for church interiors, including a striking ensemble in Lübeck Cathedral. His expertise extended to large-scale wall paintings, often commissioned by theaters. In his smaller works on paper and canvas, he explored the interplay of pure colors, constantly evolving his techniques to achieve dynamic and captivating compositions.
Quinte’s works have been exhibited internationally since the late 1950s and are represented by numerous galleries across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
