Luo Zhongli, born in 1948 in Bishan County, Sichuan Province (now Bishan County, Chongqing City), is a distinguished artist, educator, and former president of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. His life and career are a testament to dedication, resilience, and artistic excellence.
Luo Zhongli's journey as an artist began with remarkable academic achievements. In 1964, he secured first place in the entrance examination for the Affiliated High School of Sichuan and the United States, marking the auspicious start of his artistic endeavors. After completing his studies at the prestigious institution, Luo Zhongli returned to the rugged terrain of Daba Mountain in Daxian District, Sichuan, where he would later draw inspiration for his work.
A pivotal moment in Luo Zhongli's life came in 1977 when, nearing the age of 30, he decided to pursue his passion for art and embarked on a remarkable journey out of poverty-stricken Daba Mountain. He participated in the first college entrance examination held after the resumption of higher education admissions in China. Against all odds, he secured a place in the Chuanmei Oil Painting Department, earning the distinction of being the oldest student in his class.
His dedication and talent continued to shine throughout his academic and professional career. Luo Zhongli was promoted to the rank of associate professor in 1984.
