About the Artist:
Misha Podryski (1903–?) was a Russian-American Impressionist painter born in Estonia, then part of Russia. He studied art at Moscow University before spending several years refining his craft in Paris and Northern Italy. In 1929, he traveled to America for further studies, later returning to Europe in the early 1930s to attend the American School of Fine Arts at Fontainebleau. Immersing himself in the landscapes of France and Italy, Podryski developed his painterly sensibility before permanently settling in the United States in 1935. His work reflects a sophisticated blend of European Impressionism and classical portraiture.
