About the Artist:
Heinrich Aldegrever was a prominent German painter, printmaker, and goldsmith of the Northern Renaissance, known for his highly detailed engravings. Born in Paderborn, he was heavily influenced by Albrecht Dürer and became one of the “Little Masters,” a group of German printmakers specializing in small-scale engravings. His works include religious narratives, mythological scenes, and intricate ornamental designs. Aldegrever was also a key figure of the Reformation, producing portraits of Martin Luther and Anabaptist leaders.
