His paintings exude a sense of serenity, whether it's a depiction of a 19th-century lighthouse against a brilliant sunset or a delicately woven Nantucket basket filled with hydrangeas. Although mainly self-taught, Robert's artistic techniques have been developed through extensive studies of 19th-century American painters from the Hudson River and Luminous schools.
With a career spanning over thirty-five years, Robert Duff brings a unique maturity and vision to his work. His prowess extends to both landscape and still-life painting, showcasing a keen understanding of color and light. His paintings strike a balance between realism and simplicity, inviting viewers to appreciate the scene without distraction.
Born in New Bedford in 1946 and raised in Acushnet, Massachusetts, Robert's childhood experiences in the idyllic settings of his hometown have greatly influenced his artistic perspective. Memories of wandering along the shores of the Acushnet River or playing in fields of mowed hay have left an indelible mark, inspiring many of his popular artworks.
In collaboration with his wife Debra, Robert established the Duff Gallery in 1986. Their personalized approach to working with clients has allowed his work to be acquired by collectors both private and corporate, spanning the globe. Robert Duff's artistic journey includes over 20 one-man shows, museum exhibits, and features in numerous national publications, solidifying his place in the art world.
