ink and watercolour on paper mounted on cardboard
25.6 x 15.4 in. (65 x 39 cm)
This richly chromatic still life presents a dense bouquet of flowers emerging from a luminous orange vase. Blossoms in magenta, crimson, violet, and white erupt across the surface in layered clusters, animated by drips, splashes, and finely articulated ink accents. The composition conveys a heightened sense of vitality, with floral forms appearing to expand beyond their structural containment.
The artist combines traditional Chinese brush techniques with the fluidity and saturation of Western watercolour and modern abstraction. The interplay between fine linear detail and expansive chromatic fields creates a visually charged surface of continuous movement.
The composition reinterprets the classical motif of the vase of flowers, long associated with harmony and prosperity in Chinese visual tradition, through an expressive and contemporary painterly vocabulary shaped by cross-cultural influence.
The work is in very good condition, with no visible damage or restoration. Colours remain vivid and well preserved. Provenance: documentation can be provided upon request.
