This densely constructed mixed media composition presents a highly structured field of interlocking symbolic fragments, including stylised figures, architectural motifs, animal forms, and repeated graphic signs. Rendered in a saturated palette of blues, reds, greens, and orange accents, the work is organised into a grid-like framework that both contains and amplifies its visual abundance. The surface is further activated by linear border drawings that frame the central pictorial field.
Silvain’s practice here demonstrates his characteristic fusion of Surrealist and Pop-inflected languages with elements of Outsider Art. The juxtaposition of childlike figuration with more ambiguous symbolic structures generates a tension between clarity and psychological opacity. The artist’s compositional strategy relies on repetition and fragmentation, producing a rhythmically charged visual structure.
The work reflects Silvain’s sustained engagement with autobiographical memory and the expressive logic of childhood drawing, developed through his broader exploration of psychological narrative and visual coding. The grid format suggests both containment and proliferation, reinforcing the sense of a controlled yet emotionally charged pictorial system.
This Untitled work exemplifies Silvain’s mature visual vocabulary, in which symbolic imagery is deployed to construct layered narrative fields that oscillate between innocence and unease. Its complexity and visual intensity make it a strong example of his post-surrealist practice.
